Later Versions (See 8250) Use Regulator #XS7U-10C359-BA, Distinguished By an Orange Cover. Both Regulators Use I-FR-A Terminals, But the FR Signal Generated By the Two Regulators is Different. This Difference Can Be Seen on a Good Lab Scope. The Problem Becomes Apparent When Installed in the Car. If the Regulator Used in This Unit (8309 - #98BB-10300-CC) is Installed in an 8250 Application (#XS91-10300-BB, -BC), the Car May Not Idle Properly. The 8250 (Using It' s Orange Cover Regulator) Can Replace This 8309, But the 8309 (White Cover Regulator) Cannot Replace the 8250 for the Reasons Pointed Out.
